Final Journal...

Sadly I have to say good bye to this really fun class. I wasn`t good student, but I learned a lot things from Sean and classmates. Especially I want to say thank you to great and fun teacher Sean. Surely I could passed Toefl due to you. I learned many skills from you Sean. Thank you.  And I learned APA style which will be important thing in a university life. I`m glad to learn these things specifically. It will be very helpful for me.  I think everyone feel sad, but be positive!! Many new things are waiting for you in the future. However do not forget this fabulous memory spending with nice friends and teachers. I`m sure  it will be unforgettable one  All student will go different way from next semester. I hope everyone will do well on the your own new life.

Question 1
-Volcanoes/ Organics. The Scene showed me several nature place, volcanoes, maybe Grand Canyon, Ayers Rock etc)

Question 2
-I'm always impressed when I watch quite nature place which human have never involved. In my opinion, nature is most beautiful than any other object human make.  
-Those places in the scene  are beautiful and very powerful as well. Especially, the scene of volcano made me feel power of the earth.
Question 3
-As I watched the scene of volcano, I felt kind of anger and powerful. In other scene, I felt cool, hope, and joy.
Question 4
-In this chapter, it showed the move of sky in one day, sunrise to night. It made me recall the scenery of Hawaii island. I watched sunrise and stars there, and I felt the earth is awesome, like anything can't outweigh nature. Human being made many innovations and technology have been developing greatly but it's nothing compared to the earth. I felt we, human being, are living on "The Earth"  The scene made me think it again.

Journal 15

Hello mom, you allow me to do most things, but you don't allow me travel along yet. You always said to me you are not enough age to travel along, but I became 20 which is regarded an adult, a man in general.  And there is many advantages to do it. I can try myself and grow up by traveling alone, because I have to prepare everything  by myself. Nobody doesn't help me. It's good situation to grow. Maybe I would mistake something, but it also might be good experience. What I need now is to live by myself, so I want to try how much I can do by myself. Strongly I want you to understand my feeling. Thank you mom

NBA was locked out, almost two months, because NBA players had negotiated raising up their income with owners. The negotiation had been failed many time, but finally they finally had a deal. Jeff Zillgitt states (2011, Nov 28) that "instead of the NBA winning in a rout, the players scored important deal points in the final hours of negotiations with the league and made the outcome respectable. Those include concessions from owners on annual raises and the mid-level exception, which allows clubs to surpass the salary cap and luxury tax threshold to sign free agents"  It became clear to begin 2011-12 NBA season on Dec 25 on Christmas, but their negotiation is still not result that players expected perfectly, and the detail of the deal has still been talked.

In this article, the author cite Andrew Cockburn's reply about "whether targeted killings were the most effective way to fight terrorism" who is an investigative journalist. And he said assassinations is not effective way to fight terrorism, because according to the study conducted by Rex Rivol, there no evidence to support killing big terrorist. He gives us an example of  the assassinations of Isoroku  Yamamot and said it is just miracle that not to fight back.  Cause,Logo

I agree with his opinion. I was wondering why American people are celebrating when Osama Bin Laden was killed. I thought it made terrorist more violently. There is nothing terror in the U.S so far, but we are afraid of there vengeance. Then I think American militarily should have captured because it's safer than assassination.

Journal 10: Advice

My two brothers are people usually giving me advice. I've gotten much advice from them. And most all of them are helpful for my life. One of them is reading lots book. Both of them like reading and they always reading various kinds of books. When I was in a high school, second brother told me read lots books, if you don't have anything to do, and he said "Reading books is an investment in myself" Before he said to me, I didn't like reading. However, I tried to follow his the advice, and gradually it become my new hobby. Now I love reading books. And I understand the meaning of his word "Reading books is an investment in myself". I can learn many things which can't learn at school or internet by reading book.

However, I rarely was sought advice from friends. Sometime my junior friends sought me advice. At that time I always said "Don't regret later, so do something you really want to do" It's also my motto. Even if you would regret, did it, and regret. The worst  thing is that didn't do anything and regret. I follow this word, so I usually gave my friends this word as my answer.

Journal 9: American Food

I think there are no food American created first. For example hamburger was made in Germamy, Pizza was made in Italy. American people just Modeled the original food, and changed a little for them. But these food also famous as American food worldwide. Many people cognize these food as American food, actually I'm one of them. Thus when my friends say to me"let's eat American food", I think up it means hamburger or pizza. In additional the image of my American food is high calorie or not healthy. Not only keep I from eating American food also food product made in the US, because they are so sweet or salty.
Thus I could guess why more people are fat than Japanese. Obviously the reason is food. I know many people who got fat, after they came to the US. Fortunately I've tried not to eat unhealthy food, so I still can keep my weight. In short my image of American food is unhealthy. Actually I like pizza and hamburger, but eating them too much will bring me bad result.

Journal 8: Optimistice Quote

I guess the quote meaning is that negative thinking takes out opportunity from you. If you are a pessimist, you might not be able to see opportunity very well. Even if you can see, you might not try it because of the thinking. I can agree the quote. When I'm depress or discouraged, I can't see anything positively. It looks very good idea, but I may think it won't be successful or difficult. Thus pessimist must lost many opportunity in their lives.
I would say I'm optimist. I usually try not to think too much and seriously, because in my life there are only some thing I have to think seriously. Most of all the things I think were no biggie when I recall them. They were not worth to take long time to think. Usually they were small thing than my image. Thus I try to be optimist.   

Journal 7: Birds of A Feather

I met him named "Noriki" at my High school. We were not classmate but same club. It didn't take so long time to get close each other. In the high school, usually I spend a time a lot with teammate, so we were very nice friends and close. However especially I and him were so close. I come up with many reasons why we were so close, I can't find a sure reason,but the most thinkable reason is that personality was very similar. We identified soon, also we and other people, for example, my and his parents thought it. Both of us liked stupid act and do anything looked funny. In short, we were so fool. All of the things we did doesn't help anything doesn't have mean, but sooooo fun. I think we just wanted to enjoy our life without serious or difficult things. And we were able to find a friend who do it with us. Just it. In this world, there are something that never can find true reason, answer. Exactly the relationship between me and him is it. We can't find true reason even if we think deeply and seriously. We just felt it but didn't think it.

Journal 6: Dr Dollitle

I've watched "Dr Dollitle" but Eddie Murphy's one. Since I had watched it, my was to talk with animals. If I could talk them, my life would be happier and funner definitely. And if we could talk to them, accidents between human being and animals might decreasing. For example, when dangerous animals like bears, lions,  are about to attack humans, they can say something making the action stop. And I want to be friends with kinds of the animals. I like all of the kinds of animals. One of my dreams is playing with bears. They are my favorite animals. Usually they are recognized as  very dangerous animal. But if we could talk each other, we could understand each other even if they are dangerous animals.

I like all kinds of music: hip hop, rock, classic. But usually I like to listen to trance music. He is my most favorite DJ, Tiesto. His music help me always. This song "Hide and Seek" make me relaxed. Most of the his music make me just high, but not relaxed. Only this song can make me relaxed and refreshed in his music. when I found this song maybe 1 year ago, I felt this music is the most beautiful music in this world. This song is totally different from any other his songs. I like to listen this song as I lie on a bench at a pool side under the sun. It's great, wonderful, awesome!! Nothing is better than it. The time I'm listening to it is my happy time in my life.

Journal 4: Weather

My favorite type of weather is dry hot and windy. In my hometown, it's really humid in summer. So even if I didn't do anything, I sweated a lot. And there is rain season on june in Japan. The period is most uncomfortable season through one year.  I hated that weather. And in winter, its snowy and freezing. In the morning, I cant go out from my bed because of the degree. I acclimatize this CA weather, so I'm so afraid to go back to my hometown this winter. I might feel colder than before. As I said, the weather of my hometown is horrible, so I love CA. it's awesome. It's not humid, not rainy, snowy. But sometime I can't stand really hot weather, such these days. I almost melt... I can't believe it, it's already September. But it's definitely better than my hometown. So I wish I could live CA forever!!!!

Journal 3: Old Fears

I really didn't like to be alone before. I wanted to be with somebody anytime because if I'm alone, I became nervous and anxious. I couldn't do anything by myself. However the circumstance made me overcome it. From high school, I left my parents, and I lived with my siblings. All of my siblings are busy, so I have a lot of alone time. Then I did everything by my self. And one more activity made me grow up. It's a travel alone. When I was a 2 grade of a high school, i studied abroad in San Francisco during summer vacation. While I was in San Francisco, I was so nervous. But after the trip, I felt confident to go around alone.  I realize the time to be alone is not bad. Sometimes it help me. These days I really want to go to travel alone a lot.  Now I feel confident to do anything to do by myself.

Journal 2: Getting Around

I've bee here for 1 year and I always have had trouble going somewhere because I don't have my own car and California driver license.  I usually ask my friends to take me somewhere. However finally I started to practice driving recently. Last time, I drove around Brea. It was really nice, and I realize it's easy to drive in CA if I compare with my hometown. One of the reasons is that the road is wider than Japan. The road of Japan is narrow, so I have to be careful all the time. especially corners. However in CA, I don't have to pay attention too much about it.
On the other hands, there is some problems to drive here. That is some California drivers are dangerous, because suddenly they change the line without signal.  Sometimes I've felt scared, it happened.

By the way, the topic I will talk from now is not related driving in CA much, but I really want to talk about this. It's is "how to get driver license". I was so surprise the way of the U.S. They just take a paper test, and then driving test. That's it!! They dont have to go driving school. People who is going to take a license are taught someone already having a license. In Japan, everybody have to go driving school, and take a rule class and driving lessen. In my case, it takes 3 month to take driver license.  I'm always wondering why American made this system......

Journal 1 Introduction

Hi  Sean and my new classmates.  My name is Jangyoung Kim, but please call me Shoei. It`s my Japanese name. Actually I`m Korean, but I was born in Japan, so I have two names. The meaning of my name is "Be strong like general forever " My hometown is Aomori, part of norther Japan. It's really countryside but, I love it. And I had lived in Tokyo in a period of high school. After I graduated from my high school, I came here to enter cal state fullerton. I like CA, because of weather, atmosphere, food. However one thing i don't like is that I definitely need a car to transfer. Thus I'm practicing drive these days. It's really fun. 

I have a lot of hobbies, watching movie, listening to music, playing sports etc... Basically I don't like watching sports except basketball and tennis, but i like playing any sports. I like all kinds of music, hip-hop, trance, classic. Usually I listen to trance music to get high, to keep my feeling good. And when I want to concentrate on something or calm down, I listen to classic.  I'm interested in many things and I like to know new things. Thus I'm looking forward to taking this class with you guys. Thank you!! 

Next I will introduce my new classmate, Daniel. He is from south part of Vietnam. He has 2 siblings, 1 brother and 1 sister. He has been 5 month in the U.S, and all of the time is in CA. He came here to enter university. His major is engineer. His hobbies r Watching movie, listening to music, swimming, and playing game. He prefers American movies to Vietnamese movies. He hates Vietnamese movies. He likes to listen to American music and Vietnamese music. His favorite singer is Nicke Minaj. He likes to swim in the pool, but not in the sea. This is all about him I know so far.

What I want to do next

After this semester, I will go Grand Canyon  and Las Vegas. I`ve been to there before, but I like there. Also, this time is very special. why? Fortunately Billboard Music Award will take place at that time, and I can get tickets. I so happy that I can watch my favorite artists, B,E,P, Beyonce, and so on. Im really looking forward to it.

Next, i`ll talk a little serious topic.
Time is too fast. 1 year passed since I came here. At the beginning, I didn`t think my future specifically, just I liked movie, so I wanted to study about films. However passing few months, I`ve considered what I want to do and should do specifically by reading books or other ways.  

My dream is to be a movie directer, hopefully in the U,S.   At the beginning, I knew that it is not easy, but I didn`t plan my future clearly, because I didn`t think how to be it. I didn`t know what  should I do after graduate university. The way to be a movie directer is so far. It take very long time, someone can success young age, but it still around 40. Thus I realized 1 thing. Cal State Fullerton has not only a good film program, but also a good business program. I though fast of all I should study about business, probably related to film,entertainment business, or advertisement. If I learn it, I would be able to get a job relating a film. It is good enough choice for me. And I`ll earn a lot of money, I`ll try to make film. It is my best way to be success my life so far.

 Thus now, what I have to do is passing Toefl. My plan will be ruin, if  I can`t it. Thus I have to enter the university. After that, I will change my major to business major, and I`d like to start to learn Korean. I want to be trilingual because it will be advantage in my life. But why Korean?? It is ok Spanish or Chinese like other major languages. The answer is simple, because I`m Korean. Just it. However, I was born in Japan, so I can speak it. My first plan after enter the university is learning Korean.     

At the End, Im glad to take this class. I learned a lot of things from this class.I enjoyed English.

Spring Break

During spring break, I didn't travel anywhere, but I spent very fun spring break. I went 3 birthday party. 2 of them were in UV(dorm), another on is my friends house. I really like going party, because I can spend very fun time. Everybody become crazy because of alcohol, and playing high music. I like kind of the place. Especially I can meet new people and be a friend. It's very good and fun for me. Basically, I make a friends by going to party.  It's 1 of the reason to go party.
 
Others, I helped to shoot a short film, my friends university assignment. I love movie, so I was very interesting to shooting movie. At the time, I help to recording sounds. Once I helped as a actor in another friends film, but acting in English was so hard. Thus, this time was easier job than last time, also it was fun.  It took over 4 hour, but we enjoyed a lot to shoot it. After that we went to Japanese restaurant and talked  talked talked. There were 3 American, I can speak in English to improve my skill.

However, one thing what I'm so happy was I could pass paper test of driving license. Before taking the test, I was a little bit nervous, but it was very easy. Maybe because I have Japanese driver license, I have basic driving education. I really want to drive a car in CA. Next I have to do driving test, and I hope I can pass one time.    

My dream Job

If I could choose a dream job, I Would want to be a movie producer. Since I was a child, I love to watch movies. Also since then I've been dreaming to be a movie producer.  I like any kind of movies, action, romance, comedy etc... However, if I could make a movie, I would want to make about human drama. I want to make everyone in the world impress and feel somethings by my movie. People can get something, hope, courage, energy, from movies. In my case, I felt many things from movies. Sometimes, movies teach us significant thing in our life. One example is "American History X" It's top 10 movie in my life. It's about racial discrimination. I was really impressed by the movie. It taught me what we need and have to think nowadays. Actually, I have one more dream. It would be the lifetime pride and leave in the history. It’s winning the Oscar.  In order to achieve it, I decided to study here.

But, suddenly when the young man about to the door, he quit try to open right-handed door.  He felt six sense. And then, he opened left-handed door. There is the woman in the room, and they were hugging each other. However the prince looks depressed and shocked. also a part of the young man`s feeling has sad and depressed too, because the prince tried to make him go to right room, it means go to hell.  However, the young man discarded these sad feeling; furthermore, the young man felt happy and thank what he is alive. The king said “Congratulation!! The god took up for you. Thus, you are freedom”. Everyone who was there was delighted and applauded for him expect one person… 

At the night, the young man and the women spending good night and smiling at new their house. While they were sleeping, the man heard the sound of knocking door of his house. He went to check how is this. He was surprised, the prince is there. He lost word… And then the prince said “Why didn`t go into right door?? I told you!!”  And he said “I don`t know, but I felt it`s wrong and in fact it ‘was wrong!!” Prince “I was shocked that.” The man “I was shocked too. Why did you do such action??” She said” Noooo. Don`t misunderstand. Actually I tried to make you go right door, but I thought I would killed my self after that!! I can`t stand you live with another woman. Thus I wanted to dye” He said “What??” She said“ So, let`s dye together now”  Next, she stuck him with a knife she brought and hided. Wooooo. He screamed. And few second later, He never open his eyes. And she killed herself…  lastly she said “I hope we could meet next world as a commoner. Cause is I am a prince. I`m so Sorr……”      

The Strangest Thing You Have Ever Eaten

    Eating is one of my hobbies, so I'm not picky eater. I usually eat everything, even it is a dish which I've never eaten. I like to try new dishes, but unfortunately, I don't have opportunities eating new one. Thus I thought Japanese strange food for you guys. We eat many kinds of fish by some methods, sashimi, roasted, boiled or fried. I don’t have the hateful seafood even it is seafood which some Japanese hate. For example, trepang, squilla, anglerfish. I think these seafood is avoid in come countries. 
In addition one of my most favorite is bacon of whale.

 








Now days, we can't catch it so much, so it has become expensive food. Also there are a few restaurants which serve it.  I hope I can eat this when I go back to Japan next time.

Hi My name is Shoei

     Today I introduce myself. 1st I talk about my basic information. My name is Shoe Kin I was born 1991/8/29 in Aomori Japan. But actually I'm Korean Japanese. My parents are Korean.  My hometown is very countryside, but it's really nice. It is famous for apple and garlic and seafood, especially tuna. I miss there. Until Middle school, I lived in Aomori. After that, I went to high school in Tokyo. At that time, I live with my 2 brothers and a sister. The life was not easy. I had to do everything  by myself, but it was fun. And then I came here to study about film.                             
      Next I talk about my hobbies. First I lve to go to Karaoke. When I hang out with my friends in Japan, we usually went to Karaoke. Because it's cheap and really fun, we can stay for a long time. 2nd hobby is NBA. I really love NBA, because I was in basketball club in middle and high school. Of course my favorite team is Lakers, and a favorite paler is Kobe. Unfortunately, this season lakers is not  good. They lose some games, but I hope they will be champion again. 3rd my hobby is travel. I've been many countries before. Korean, Some country of Europe, And some city of the U.S.A. Someday, I'd like to travel to all over the world. It's my dream.
